Ready for anything hit my way... |
And it's 1-2-3, not strikes, but wins for Changing Times Pub as they remain undefeated after beating Bar-Boy 21-14. All the players had their nap for the late 9:40 start. Bar-Boy must have had the better nap as they came out of the gates strong putting up a 5 spot in the 2nd inning and another run in the 3rd. But CT wouldn't be denied. They chipped away at their lead in the bottom of the 3rd led by Steve Johnsen (3-3) 2RBIs and hard ropes from David Chametky (3-4) 1 RBI. Bar Boy answered back with 3 runs in the 4th, however CT said goodbye to Mr. Sandman and put up an impressive 8 runs in the bottom of the 4th thanks to Joe Stephan (2-4) 1 RBI and a solid RBI single by Jimmy Cullen. The 6th inning is where CT shut the lights and put the game to bed by adding another 7 runs led by Mike Corda's Grand Slam (4-5) 7 RBIs and solid hitting by Chris Leelum (4-5), Dave Thorburn (4-5) & Dan Davies (3-4) 3 RBIs.
Bar-Boy kept pace through the 4th inning just 2 runs behind CT (11-9); However, CT kept answering. BB made a final push in the 9th but it wasn’t enough. Darren Simons went 4 for 5 and 1 RBI, Tom Gemma went 4 for 5 + 1 RBI, Ken Kohlmann went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs, Bob Liese went 3 for 4, Lino Raspanti went 4 for 5 + 1 RBI and Frank Badalmenti went 3 for 5 with a 2 run HR in the 9th. Great support/coaching from Steve Rose who is temporarily out with an injury.
Zwanger
Pesiri Radiology came to town versus Paradox Cafe and started the game
off with a bang. The first inning had a few Paradox errors along with
some long ball off the bat of Rookie Kevin McGinnis to give Zwanger
a 6-0 lead. Paradox Cafe has been slow out of the blocks this year as
the gloves and bats seem to still be thawing out from winter. Not so
for Zwanger whose bats in the 3rd and 4th inning came alive once again
as they pounded singles up the middle and scored 8 runs. Russ Graham,
Bino Reverberi, Steve Lenci and McGinnis supplied key hits for ZP. Vinny
Vega of Paradox helped nibble away a 15-1 lead when he launched a 2
run shot to right center. By the 5th inning, Zwanger had a 15-4 lead
and Paradox was all but done in again. In the bottom of the fifth, Don
Carlin cashed in a double for a Paradox RBI and started a trend. A rash
of singles started as Al Celeste, Wally Seyfert, Brian Mulcahy, Gary
Innes and John Compitello all drove in runs. Steve Finelli then laced
a laser to center for another single and two more runs. Vega stepped
up again and crushed another 2 run home run to right center for his
second moon shot of the night to tie the score. Carlin singled and Mitch
Maghakian followed with a home run down the right field line as Paradox
stunned themselves and Zwanger to take a 17-15 lead. Joe Cordi helped
Paradox with two hits and solid shortstop while Bill Gonazales scored
3 times on the base paths. For ZP, Tommy Dittmeier had 3 hits and a
pair
of RBIs. In the end, Paradox got their first victory of the year with
a 19-15 win over Zwanger.
