No fun in Mudville this week...

Update for Friday, Aug 26th, 2011...

The OTHG played a full schedule on Aug 26th to make up for the "HEAT WAVE" cancellation on July 22nd.

7:00pm - Paradox versus Moby - 60ft field

The OTHG season wound down this past weekend as Paradox Cafe took on Moby Drugs in the early game on the 60 foot field. The rivalry heated up in the first few innings as Paradox took a 9-6 lead. The floodgates then opened up as Paradox went on a hit attack with the top 5 men in the order scoring 17 runs. The night ended with a tremendous hitting display as the long quiet bats of Paradox finally broke out: Steve Finelli and Mitch Maghakian each went 5 for 5 with 9 runs scored and 7 RBIs between them. Four hits for the night each went to Al Celeste (2 RBIs, 2Runs), Walter Hasemann (3 RBIs, 2 Runs) and Lenny Balestrieri (3 RBIs, 2 Runs). Meanwhile BIlly "The Table Setter" Gonzalez went 3 for 4 with a walk and 4 runs scored. Rounding out the 35 hit attack for the night were Don Carlin (3 hits, 4 RBIs), Gary "The Glove" Innes (2 Hits, 2 RBIs), Brian Mulcahy (2 hits, 2 Runs), James Mignone (2 hits, 2 RBIs) and Mickey Newbeck (Run and RBI). The defense remained strong as Finelli held the potent Moby hitters to 7 runs. The final score was a Paradox victory, 26-7. The Paradox team wishes Andy "The Prophet" Cohen a speedy recovery as his injured quad takes a vacation. Hopefully he can make some playoff predictions come true for Paradox Cafe.

Too Hot to Handle, July 22nd...

The OTHG schedule was postponed due to a heat alert on Friday, July 22nd. The temperature topped out at 100 degrees fahrenheit.  Allen Park originally shifted the schedule by one hour and we thought we would get the games in starting at 8pm instead of 7pm... but as the day wore on the Town of Oyster Bay decided to close the whole park down around 7pm.  The heat wave had spread across the country during the week and made its way to Long Island in force on Friday.  Hopefully next week the OTHG is back out on the fields.

Depending on the amount of league postponements for the year, these games will be rescheduled for the end of August.  Managers will be notified at a later date with updated scheduling info.
