Ground Control: Crash Landing |
Paradox Cafe continued their winning ways against Changing Times this past week, posting a 26-7 victory. The game started off tight in the first four innings with the score 7-6 in favor of Paradox. The fifth and eighth innings proved to be the game changers and Paradox broke out for 19 runs combined. Solid pitching by Bob Thompson carried through along with strong defense including multiple rundowns by Billy Gonzalez in left field. Swinging the bat well on the night were Gary Innes, Al Celeste and Walter Hasemann each with 3 RBIs. The whole team continues to consistently bat up and down the order and more importantly, to play strong defense. Paradox wishes a speedy recovery to Tony Scime who injured his leg this past Friday.
Barco’s modest three game winning streak came to an end, losing to LaCorte 13-10. Barco struggled all game, both defensively and offensively but still had an opportunity to pull the game out. LaCorte led most of the game before Barco put up four runs in the 6th to go up 8-7 but immediately fell behind again 10-8 as LaCorte answered with three in the 7th. Barco tied it in the 8th at 10 but LaCorte scored three in the 9th for their winning margin. Barco’s Dave Saur continued his fine hitting going 2-3 with a sac fly and 3 RBIs, but the real star for the night was James Widmer who made three outstanding catches while patrolling left field. A special note, the entire Barco family wishes Terry McPartland the best of luck and a speedy and full recovery from his upcoming surgery. Our prayers will be with you.
