7:00pm - Autocraft versus Moby Drugs - 60ft field

Autocraft beat Moby Drugs 33-13. For Moby, it was great to see teammate Michael O'Connell (on I.R.) who stopped by. For week three, Moby (now 2-1) was downgraded from "Whale" to "Guppie" status. Autocraft (now 1-2), who everyone knew "was due", fired on all cylinders. In the first inning Autocraft batted around to plate 11. Moby answered with 8. A collective tip of the hat from Moby to Autocraft on an outstanding offensive display. As the new saying goes, "Hitting Multiple Missiles over right and left field fences (that no one even knew existed) beats the heck outta "Defense Wins Games" EVERYDAY. We all miss Mike's humor, wit and wisdom.

8:20pm - Zwanger Pesiri versus Paradox Cafe - 60ft field

Another beautiful night for softball had Zwanger Pesiri paired up against Paradox Cafe in an American versus National League matchup. The keys to playing good ball are strong hitting and strong defense. Tonight Paradox Cafe came with both. The first two innings were scorchers as Steve Fanelli continued the Paradox home run streak with another 3 run shot over the fence. Andy "Wheelhouse" Cohen started a 3 for 5 night in the second when Paradox batted around the order. Brian Mulcahy had a 2 RBI single and Al Celeste got his first RBI on his way to a 4 hit night. Bruce Kubart chipped in his first triple of the night for 2 RBIs and Paradox jumped to a 13-2 lead. Defense played a good part of the game as Paradox turned 3 double plays, including a beauty by Billy Gonzalez as he fielded a deflected ball off the pitcher and threw to first. Mulcahy also helped the cause behind the plate grabbing a quick tip off the bat at just the six foot minimum (give or take an inch). The Paradox bats came back alive as Maghakian deposited a shot over the fence in center field. Fourteen more runs then flew across the plate. Kubart nailed his 2nd triple over the 1st base bag and Walter Hasemann smoked a single for his 3rd and 4th RBI of the night. Bob Thompson continued his torrid hitting with a four for five night and Mickey Newbeck scored for the 3rd time. Lenny Balestrieri then chipped in a SAC fly (as well as 22 years to his wife for their Anniversary). Gary Innes saved the best for last though... a screamer in the gap where he went all the way for a three run home run. The Paradox bench went wild. For ZP, the only significant highlight was Marc Fischer’s 3-run homer that kept it close in the the beginning. The final score was 29-11 in favor of Paradox Cafe.

8:20pm - Singletons versus Barco Construction - 90ft field

The game between Singletons and Barco Construction started out as a pitching duel but ended up being a slugfest. After the 3rd inning, the score was only 3-2 in favor of Barco. But as the 4th inning began the bats heated up and runs started accumulating. Over the next 4 innings Singleton's outscored Barco by a 24 to 8 margin bringing the final score to 26-11 in favor of Big Red...... Hitting stars on the night were rookie Pete Scozzari with another 4-4 and 4 R.B.I night. Rookie Stevie Raifer, Frank Giorgio, Paul Canalattos, and Richie Smindak all hammered out 3 hits apiece and the nightcap was Alan Rapfogel's monster grand slam homerun giving him 6 RBI s on the evening. That combined with superb defensive work by rookie Mike Silverstein, Tom (Tino) Sorrentino, Nick (Slick) Gadinis and Gary Saccaro paved the way to victory.

9:40pm - Lockie & Nowachek versus McCourt & Trudden - 60ft field

Lockie & Nowacheck Family Chiropractors got into the win column with a 27-3 win over McCourt and Trudden Funeral Home. Ron Schwabe pitched the entire game, not allowing a run until the 6th inning. Bill Camacho has been the inspiration leader of this team and he led the offense, with five hits and was on base all six times he stepped up to the plate. It is looking like the lineup is finally running on all cylinders.
