Player of the Week Feature

Sorry, there was no player of the week for July 27th, 2012.

7:00pm - Barco versus Changing Times - 60ft field

Barco Construction improved to 9-4 with a win over Changing Times Pub (CT.)  CT opened the game scoring one run. Barco answered in the bottom of the inning sending up 10 men and scoring 5 runs. The second inning was the same as the first. CT scoring 1 and Barco scoring 5. The next 4 innings saw only 1 run scored making the score 11-2. The 7 o'clock sun was its usual inconvenience through the first 5 innings. The last 2 innings were mirror images again with CT scoring 3 in the top of the 7th and Barco answering with 3 in the bottom. CT scored 1 in the top of the 8th with Barco answering with 1 of its own to end the scoring. Barco's defense remained strong again with the middle infield turning 4 double plays to squash any rally CT might be starting. Other defensive gems were Tim Dorman's running catch in LC that saved 3 runs from scoring and the weekly highlight from Dave Saur as he came running in from RC to make another sliding catch. Offensive highlights from this week were Gary Jambor going 4-5, Steve Jacobson 3-4 and 2 RBIs, and the RBI machine Kevin Moloney going 3-4 with 4 RBIs. Barco would like to thank Tim Dorman for replaying the '86 World Series when he hit his Mookie roller to first base and the whole team yelled out "It gets by Buckner".

7:00pm - Autocraft versus Paradox - 90ft field

Paradox Cafe and Autocraft faced off with both teams challenged due to injuries and each team had just enough players to play the game. Don Simone's solid pitching helped lift Autocraft to a 18-9 win. Don was supported by quality defensive performances from shortstop John Lakatos and left centerfielder Brian Landy. Brian had recent Lasik eye surgery and it worked. He went from seeing like Mr. McGoo to seeing and playing like the Bionic man. Brian also contributed on offense with 4 hits and a 3 run home run as Chris Piccininni had another 4 hit night and Denny Oehl turned in a 5 hit performance. Lets hope both teams get healthy for the playoffs.

8:20pm - Zwanger Pesiri versus Lockie & Nowachek - 60ft field

Zwanger Pesiri Radiology (ZP) used the long ball and strong outfield play to beat Lockie & Nowachek Family Chiropractors (L&N) 14-11. L&N jumped to a 7-0 lead, but ZP answered with 4 runs in the 1st inning. Tommy Dittmeier slammed a 3 run HR followed by Russ Graham who just missed, hitting the top of the fence. Bino Reverberi drove in Russ with an RBI single. Russ was not to be denied. He cleared the fence in the 4th inning and just missed another in the 6th. Vinny Foppiano lead the outfield defense with 3 running catches and he also picked off a runner at 2nd base. Brian Tinney held L&N in check allowing only 4 runs over the final 8 innings. The game was up for grabs until Brian put ZP ahead for good with a bases loaded clearing double in the 7th. Vinny added some insurance with a HR in the 8th. For the night, Tommy, Vinny & John Hernandez all had 3 hits.
