Cool and relaxed behind the plate... |
What are these guys looking at... |
Congratulations
to Changing Times Pub veteran Jack Scherer. He is the Over the Hill
Gang Player of the Week. Jack had two critical hits when the game was
tight during a wild 21-20 win over Barco Construction. He was stellar
at first base making several fantastic scoops as well as snaring some
hot grounders. Jack also came in to pitch late in the game and shut
down a Barco rally.
It's been an exciting roller coaster ride thus far for Changing Times. The team started out 2-0 putting up a ton of runs. Then the bats went cold as they dropped the next 3. On Friday night, they had a barn burner with Barco and ended up with a victory to get back to .500. Stand-outs included long time veterans' Jack Scheri and Eddie Cullen, who continues to hit the cover off of the ball and approach an .800 batting average. The "new look" CT isn't anyone's doormat anymore and has already exceeded last year's win total.
Make it three in a row for Zwanger Pesiri Radiology (ZP). ZP beat Lockie & Nowachek Family Chiropractors 10-9 Friday in a tight, well played game. ZP was scoreless until the 4th inning when rookie Sean O'Flynn launched a bomb to left field with the bases loaded that cleared the bases. In the next inning, ZP tacked on another 4 runs to make it 7-2. Pete Mendelson, Jerry Mazza, Rich D'Amico, John Hernandez, Tommy Dittmeier and Bino Reverberi all sparked the rally with key hits. But it was Dittmeier's sac fly in the 7th that made the difference. The blast was so deep, two runs scored with Hernandez supplying the speed from 2nd base. For the night, veteran Rich D'Amico moved up to the 2nd slot and answered with a perfect 5-5 performance. Bino Rerverberi was 4-4. Hernandez had 3 hits and pair of RBI. Mazza, Dittmeier, Mendelson and John DeFalco rounded out the attack with two hits each. It was good to see Marc Fischer in the dugout. Everyone wishes him a speedy recovery from knee surgery.
