Congratulations
to Lockie & Nowachek Family Chiropractors outfielder Damon Pishva..
He is the Over the Hill Gang Player of the Week. In only his 2nd week
back from arm surgery, Pishva went 4 for 4 with 4 runs scored.
In the outfield, he made numerous outstanding catches to help lift L&N
to a 14-2 win over McCourt & Trudden Funeral Home.
In addition to Damon Pishva above, pitcher Ben Greco also had an outstanding night keeping the M&T batters off stride. Other top players were Thomas Joseph who was 3 for 3 with 2 RBI's, rookie Pete Hajko who had an over the fence two run homerun and 4 RBI's, and rookie Rich Apollo who hit a tremendous homerun and had 3 RBI's. This was a complete team effort.
Zwanger Pesiri Radiology (ZP) is on a roll. Under the steady leadership of Manager Tom "T" Ball, ZP won its 4th straight, a 9-8 nail-biter, over Barco Construction. Pitcher Brian Tinney was superb, holding a tough Barco lineup to only 8 runs. Tinney picked up a critical strike-out in the 9th inning with two runners on base. He then slowed a hot-shot that looked like a game tying single, turning it into the game ending 1-4-6 force. ZP's defense was solid all night. Pete Mendelson made a fantastic grab on the last play of the game and he also handled several other scorchers at 2nd base. Vinny Foppiano had a great sliding catch in the outfield. But right-fielder Tyrone Clark turned in the defensive play of the game. Clark made a spectacular running catch on a long drive deep in the corner to keep ZP within striking distance.
For the 2nd week in the row, ZP rallied from behind late in the game to score just enough to win. Anthony Nicolich got the big hit this week, doubling home the go-ahead run with two outs in the 9th. He scored John Hernandez who jumped off his couch to make the game and pounded out 4 hits. Tom Dittmeier and Rookie Sean O'Flynn also had keys hits in the 9th inning rally. For the night, Foppiano had 3 hits and so did Russ Graham facing his old team. Jerry Mazza, Dittmeier, O'Flynn and Clark had two hits each. John DeFalco and Bino Reverberi both drove in a pair of runs with two sac flys to round out the attack.
ZP sends congratulations to another Brian Tinney. On the same day Dad was on the mound for ZP, young Brian was pitching a spectacular, complete game playoff gem for St. Anthony's!
