Two full moons or a misty night under the lights

Two times 11...

Who turned out the Lights...

The Over the Hill Gang softball league opened its 38th season Friday night at Allen Park. The league thanks Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor John Venditto, County Legislator Michael Venditto and Councilman Joe Pinto for helping with the opening day festivities!

After a rainout spoiled opening night last week, everything did not go according to plan this evening either. CT and M&T were playing on the small field when electrical issues in the lighting system forced the closing down of the small field.  All National league games on the 60 foot field were canceled.  Depending on the amount of league rainouts for the year, these games will be rescheduled in August. Managers will be notified at a later date with updated scheduling info. All American league games were played on the large field.

8:20pm - BK Sweeneys versus Lockie & Nowachek - 90ft field

Lockie & Nowachek Family Chiropractors and BK Sweeney’s faced each other in the middle game on the 90-foot field. Sweeneys, who lost only one game during the regular season last year, jumped off to an 8-0 lead in the top of the first inning. They looked to be in control, but L&N showed a lot of character and came back to win a tough battle 18-17. Special L&N kudos to Rich Apollo who belted 2 HR's, drove in 7 runs and played fantastic defense at shortstop. Ronny Schwabe also had a HR and pitched a great game. Damon Pishva was 3 for 4. Tom DeSantis was 2 for 3 and "rookie" Eddie Bernauer Jr. went 3 for 4 and played tough defense.
