LaCorte
Family Auto is off to a great start this year. The team beat Paradox
Cafe 20-13 on Friday night.. Last week, LaCorte tied Moby Drugs. Against
Paradox, Keith Burtis had a great night pitching and he also blasted
a home run. Charlie Dittmar had a fantastic night at first base and
he also belted a homer. Vic Inzirillo played a great 3rd base and hit
well. LaCorte is planning to be the come back team of the year.
Bethpage finally broke into the win column with an impressive 23-8 victory over Autocraft. Bethpage jumped out to a 5 run lead after 2 but Autocraft bounced right back tying the score in their half. The score remained close till Bethpage broke the game open with 9 runs in the 5th and never looked back. Their defense was solid with two sterling, diving grabs by outfielders Dave Saur & Dennis (I can only catch when I’m on my knees) Ryan. On the offensive side the entire team contributed but Terry (bionic hips) McPartland and Tony Ranieri especially had big games, each had 4 hits with Terry adding 5 RBIs while Tony drove in 3. Also having solid games were Jim Loughin (3-4, 2 RBIs), Mike Angarita (3-3, 2 RBIs) and Dennis Ryan ((3-4, 2 RBIs). The park employees were also thankful that Bethpage won; they had a week off from repairing additional dents inflicted upon the benches, and Steve doesn’t need to get a new bat as well.
Zwanger
Pesiri Radiology and Changing Times Pub went back and forth for 9 innings
with CT coming up with 9 runs in the top of the 10th to win 18-9. ZP
trailed 4-2 in the 6th inning and took the lead 6-4 when Marc Fischer
belted a grand slam. CT answered with 5 runs over the next 2 innings
and lead 9-7 heading into the bottom of the 9th. After Fischer and Russ
Graham moved back the defense with two very long fly outs, ZP answered
with 4 straight 2 out hits to tie the game sending it into the 10th.
CT then put on their hitting shoes and scored 9 times to secure the
win. Johnny "Shots" Hernandez led ZP with a perfect 4 for 4 in the lead
off spot. John DeFalco had 3 hits. Two hits each for Tommy Dittmeier,
Marc Fischer, Bino Reverberi, Richie D'Amico, Shawn O'Flynn and Anthony
"Booby" Nicolich.
