7:00pm - Mers Pub versus Barco Construction - 60ft field

Barco Construction faced off against Mers Ale House in a game that went down to the wire with Mers edging out Barco 11-10. Unfortunately Barco didn’t start playing ball until the middle innings, which by then Mers had built an 8-1 lead after four. Barco’s defense tightened up and kept Mers off the scoreboard long enough to get back into the game. Rick Pedone got one run back with a hit in the 6th but it was the five run 7th that put life back into the Barco Boys. The big RBI hits came from Steve Jacobson and Dave Ringer (2 RBIs) along with Jim Hose’s sac fly to get Barco within one run. In the 8th Barco’s offense came through again on RBIs from Dennis Ryan and Rick Pedone, which gave them a one run lead which they just couldn’t hold on to. In the 9th Mers came back with three runs to go up by two which turned out to be just enough as Barco rallied again in their half on Gary Jambor’s RBI single but they came up one run short. Barco outfielder Dave Saur continued his sparkling play making two outstanding catches. Also making a fine running catch was outfielder James Widmer.
