The "Reilly Cup" is Awarded to...
Submitted by: Jim Reilly

It was a standing room only crowd last Friday for the annual Over the Hill Gang Awards night. When the league starts handing out trophies and pizza in early March, it can only mean one thing; the new season is quickly approaching. As always, the players enjoyed the chance to "catch up" after the long winter and to welcome its new players. The quote of the night came from Tommy "T" Ball who is recovering from a serious accident. He sent a message telling his replacement, "I hope he knows, he’s only playing one year.”  That brought a rousing, "way to go T-Ball" cheer.

The league welcomed two new Hall of Fame members, Ed "Baron" Bernauer and Ed "The Chief" Butler. They each received a standing ovation after being eloquently introduced by Rick Kopitsch, Chairman of the Hall of Fame committee. Paul Nardone accepted the American Division Championship trophy on behalf of sponsor Moby Drugs, while Ken Kohlman accepted the National Division award for Bar-Boy. The Reilly Cup winner this year was Singletons and manager Rich Brancaccio was on hand to accept for his team. In addition, board members Jerry Mazza and Mitch Maghakian were recognized for their contributions with newspaper articles and the league's impressive website.

Thanks to Councilman Anthony Macagone, Joe Pinto and Councilwoman Rose Walker for helping with the presentations and to candidate for Village Trustee, Georgiana Sena, for leading the Pledge Of Allegiance. Thanks also to league photographer Barbara Tepper, the party committee: Jerry Ivarone, Rob Bischoff, Ed Cullen , John Falbo and Bruce Kubart and from the Knights of Columbus: Dominic and Eddy. And special thanks to the loyal Over the Hill Gang alumni.
