Contemplating 3rd base... Keep your eye on the ball...

Getting ready for the double play... Looking for contact...

8:20pm - Changing Times versus Zwanger Pesiri - 60ft field

After an emotional off-season, Zwanger Pesiri really needed a win to start the year. ZP got that victory in a hard fought 23-22 slugfest against Changing Times. Acting Manager John DeFalco picked up his first “W” when Pete Mendelson singled in Bino Reverberi with the game winner in the 7th. The game only went 7 innings because both teams hit early and often. Just about everyone got into the act. Joe Algerio and Tommy Dittmeier led the way with 4 hits each. Joe had a homer and Tommy hit the top of the fence. Jerry Mazza also hit a homer, one of his 3 hits on the night. Marc Fischer, Bino Reverberi, Rich D’Amico and Tyrone Clark also had three hits. Rookie John Hernandez made all the plays at 3rd base and had 2 hits in his debut. Carl Dessel, John DeFalco and pitcher Brian Tinney had two hits each. ZP sends its best to team leader Tom “T” Ball and looks forward to his return as Manager later in the season.

CT scored in every inning except the 2nd. Kudos to Charlie #2, Rob, David, Anthony, Brad, Billy, Jack, Charlie #1 and Greg for a game well played. Over their past 2 games, CT has scored 49 runs. Lawn chairs to all the CT players!

9:40pm - Barco versus LaCorte Family Auto - 90ft field

Barco continued their fine start to the season with a tough 16-11 victory over LaCorte. The game was an exciting seesaw battle which came out in Barco’s favor as they where fortunate enough to be the team that scored last. Barco started off with four runs in the first but LaCorte responded with three of their own in the bottom half, which set the stage the rest of the game. After LaCorte tied it in the 2nd, Barco added two in the 3rd to which LaCorte bounced back again with four runs in the 3rd to go up 8-6 and another three in the 5th. Barco went ahead for good 12-11 after 5 with three in the 4th & again in the 5th; they then added four more in the 6th for the final score of 16-11. Defensively, SS Russ Graham was solid again. He came up with a rally stopping DP with a lunging grab and a sparkling sliding backhander which came in critical junctions of the game that helped Barco maintain their tenuous lead. Offensively the Barco Boys continued their timely hitting, as nine players had RBIs. The entire line-up came through with clutch hits. Leading the way was Terry McPartland with 4 RBIs on a 4-4 night along with Tony Ranieri who had a HR and 3 RBIs. Adding to the mix was Bill White & Dennis Ryan who had back-to-back triples to spark the 4 run 6th, along with Rick Pedone who was 3-3 with 2 RBIs and Russ Graham who went 2-2 with 2BBs & 2 RBIs. Personally, the Barco families would like to extent their well wishes and a quick recovery to Val McPartland on her recent surgery.
