Turning on the pitch... |
Maybe I'll swing, maybe I won't... |
Autocraft put together a strong performance on both offense and defense in beating LaCorte Family Auto 20-5. By the end of the second inning it was 10-0 and Autocraft held strong through the rest of the game. There were two outstanding performances. The first was the pitching of Mike Ferretti who kept the ball on the plate all night, giving very few gift at bats for his opponent. When he needed a strike, he put one over. The second performance was by Brian "Landyman" Landy who hit two bombs over the right field fence. Someone said the second one landed in the Stop n Shop parking lot! But these two players were not alone in making this an Autocraft night. Every player in the lineup had at least one hit. Having big nights at the plate were Denny "Ace" Oehl, Little Mike Mormino, Bob Cruickshank (a triple to left field past Little John), Chris Piccinnini, Mike Ferretti, Joe "Mr. Steady" Lutz, Aldo "Who said I can't catch a pop-up?" Balducci, Donny Simone, and John Garrity. Others with timely hits were Davey Rubino, Bob Huebner, Frankie "Quatro-cinco-seis" Quatromani, and Tommy Vanasco, who also caught everything hit to him except one.
