This one's going over the fence... |
4 score and 7 years ago, the OTHG was created so all men over 40 could play softball... |
Lockie & Nowachek Family Chiropractors were back to their winning ways, defeating LaCorte's Family Auto 20-12. Pitcher Ron Schwabe kept LaCorte scoreless for the first three innings. Pete Cestare gave Ronnie a breather for a couple innings, before returning to close out the game. The L&N offense started early and scored often. The first six L&N batters reached base safely before LaCorte recorded an out. Damon Pishva got it started with a leadoff triple and went 5 for 5 with three singles and a pair of triples. Tommy Joseph and Mike Quigley powered the offense, each hitting a 2-run home run. L&N is looking to pile on more wins as the season continues.
Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology beat Barco Construction 10-5 with an impressive combination of timely hitting, Brian Tinney’s pitching and solid defense. ZP scored 7 runs after two outs were made. In the 3rd inning, consecutive two out hits by Bino Reverberi, John Hernandez, Tyrone Clark and Marc Fischer, who blasted a homer, made it 7-0. Ira Berger also had a big night at the plate with 4 hits. Special guest leadoff batter Rich D’Amico had two hits, as did Reverberi, Clark, Pete Mendelson and rookie Gene Hennigan.
The outfield, playing shorthanded, had a strong night. D’Amico returned to his old stomping grounds in right center and didn’t miss a beat. Karl Dessel nailed a runner at home from left field, and said, “watch out Jerry I like it out here.” The infield turned a critical double play with the bases loaded and no outs, Hernandez to Mendelson to Fischer. ZP is 5-2 following the interleague win and continues to get key contributions from everyone on the team.
Autocraft stayed hot in beating Paradox Café 26-4. Mike Ferretti continued his win streak by hurling a beauty. It was a hit parade for Autocraft with big nights at the plate for Tommy Vanasco, Aldo Balducci, Bob Cruickshank, and even Mike Mormino with three hits. Adding to the onslaught were Don Simone, big rookie Tom Fesolowich, Frank Quatromani, and Joe "Mr. Steady" Lutz. John Garrity hit a one hopper off the center field fence on the big field for a homer.
