7:00pm - Lockie & Nowachek versus Singletons - 90ft field

For the second week in a row, Lockie & Nowachek Family Chiropractors came away with a tie. This time, it was against the first place team of HR Singletons. L&N started out strong with five runs in the first, on nine straight hits. Singletons was not going to take it lying down. Singletons kept chipping away at L&Ns lead until finally overtaking them in the 5th inning.

L&N came back in the top of the sixth. Making up for an error earlier in the game, Tommy Joseph crushed his first home run to make it a close game. But then, Singletons had a big inning, batting around and scoring 10 runs. L&N has too much fight in them to give up. Pitcher Ben Greco went the distance and came up big with two quick scoreless innings at the end to give Lockie & Nowachek a chance.

L&N batted around in the seventh and plated seven to bring the game to within two. Chris Keep’s 2-run single in the eighth tied the score 21-21, and that is how it ended. Everyone from the Lockie & Nowachek team contributed to the win with at least one hit, including Billy Camacho who was forced to leave the game early due to an injury.

8:20pm - Changing Times versus Paradox Cafe - 60ft field

This week started off well for Paradox Cafe as they had a full complement of players to actually field a team versus Changing Times Pub. After giving up two runs in the first, Paradox Cafe heated up with 10 runs. The infamous O'Shea's two out rally was magically transferred to the new Paradox Cafe. The whole lineup hit from top to bottom as Paradox stroked 8 consecutive 2 out hits. The next inning had 2 more for CT and an additional 6 for Paradox. Bob Thompson had a triple in the gap for 2 RBIs that helped close out the inning. What looked like an easy night for the Cafe turned into a hit parade for CT as they climbed back into the game with 14 more runs in the 3rd and 4th inning to take the lead 18-16. Paradox then dug in and hit the ball hard as Bill Gonzalez went 3 for 4 on the night. Lenny Balestrieri stroked a 2 run gapper and Lyle Nigro broke out with a 4 for 4 night. The hitting ended for both sides after 5 innings, with the final score Paradox 29 and CT 20.

9:40pm - McCourt & Trudden versus BK Sweeneys - 60ft field

B.K.Sweeneys and McCourt and Trudden Funeral Home fought a tough battle Friday night. Sweeney's hit men came out strong after giving up 4 first inning runs. BK scored 6 in the 1st, 9 in the second, another 5 in the third and finally added 2 more in the 6th. They held on to win 22-16. Johnny Longo launched a couple of monster triples to drive in a couple of runs. Leading the hit parade were Mike Magro 5 -5, rookie Geo Moerler 4 - 4 (1 hr 5 RBIs) and Joey G 4 -4. Getting 2 hits: Ron Paola (3 RBIs), Jack DeBobes (hr, all of 120 feet), Kevin Brosna (1 monster hr) and Billy Sutherland. Also adding to the offense and pitching was Jim Fileccia with 4 RBI while pitching all 8 innings with 5 Ks. Meanwhile base on balls Byron got on base for the hitters behind him. Rookie Mark Hemminger lashed out a screaming double to add to the offense. M & T battled their way back in with a chance to win in the last inning but Sweeney's held on for the victory.
