Kicking up a storm of dust...

LaCorte Family Auto

7:00pm - McCourt & Trudden versus Autocraft- 60ft field

You never know what can happen on a given night in summer softball. Autocraft battled McCourt and Trudden Funeral Home for 9 innings before rallying for a 13-12 win. Denny "Ace" Oehl got the victory on the mound, pitching strong through all nine innings. The game ball goes to sponsor Bob Huebner who had a run scoring triple when the game was close in late innings and had the game winning hit to score Bob Cruickshank from second in the bottom of the ninth. Autocraft had to depend on defense to keep it from getting away. A couple of double plays, a great catch by Brian Landy in deep left center, and a game altering stop at third by Davey Rubino were highlights for Autocraft. Frankie "Tickets" Quatromani got one of the most unusual squibber singles ever seen, and it was just when his team needed it.

8:20pm - Paradox Café versus Barco Construction - 60ft field

Barco continued their improved play as they won their third in a row with a 25-13 win over Paradox. Barco started out quickly with three in the 1st on RBI hits from Russ Graham and Kevin Moloney (2). They added six in the 3rd on RBI hits from Terry McPartland and Kevin Moloney but the big blow was Russ Graham’s 3 run homer. Paradox came back with two in the 4th to get within 4 but Barco erupted for thirteen in their half to make it 22-5. This was truly a team rally as ten different guys had RBIs with Terry McPartland, Kevin Moloney and James Widmer driving in two each. Leading the way for Barco on the night was Russ Graham and Kevin Moloney; both were 4-4 with 5 RBIs. Right behind was Mayor Terry McPartland, who was 4-4 with 4 RBIs and Dave Saur and Gary Jambor with 3-4 nights. Terry also made the game interesting (and some teammates antsy) as Paradox was able to push across eight during his relief appearance. The team was just glad he got his starting time tweet especially since Barco’s resurgent play coincides with his return to the line-up from an injury which he incurred in the first week. No one knows if it’s due to his bat, his yakking or both.

PS – Jim Hose’s swinging “K” reason (knuckler) didn’t work as well as it did for RG but it was a good try.

9:40pm - BK Sweeneys versus Lockie & Nowachek - 60ft field

After a much needed break, Lockie & Nowachek Family Chiropractors returned to action. Unfortunately it was not what they had hoped. L&N lost to BK Sweeney's in a close 1 run battle, 14-13. There were a few bright spots for the Lockie & Nowachek team. Damon Pishva was on base all four times, with 3 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Pitcher Ron Schawbe not only kept L&N within striking distance of BK Sweeney's, but also went 2 for 3 with a walk, single and a double, scoring twice and driving in 4 runs. L&N hopes to get back to winning next week, and back to the .500 mark.
