Pitch it right in here... |
Still in play down the line... |
BK Sweeney’s took the field for the early game Friday night and came out with bats smoking. The team scored early and often against two-time defending champions Singletons. Everyone in the lineup had at least one RBI. The defense was strong as well and hats off to Jim for pitching his strongest game of the year. Kevin Brosnan blasted a monster shot over the fence and Billy Sutherland went 4 for 4 while George Cohan had 4 RBIs and Ron had three. Mike, Byron, Jack, George, Joey, John, and Tom all had 3 hits apiece. The final score was BK 26 and Singletons 10.
Everyone on BK Sweeney’s sends their best to T-Ball. It was great seeing him a few weeks ago and we hope to see him at the field more often.
Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology’s comeback year took another leap forward Friday night with a 23-14 win over Bar-Boy. ZP had only 10 guys, but everyone made a significant contribution. The game was tight until the 7th inning when ZP exploded for nine runs. The team batted around with everyone in the lineup getting either a hit or a sac fly.
John Hernandez led the offense with a perfect 6 for 6 outing that included 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. Tyrone Clark brought his bat and his pitching wedge to the game and wound up with 5 hits. Clark also had a very busy night in right field with at least 6 putouts including a few blistering line drives. Vinny Foppiano had the catch of the night, a running grab in the 9th that saved a sure homer.
Rounding out the offense were Rich D’Amico, Jerry Mazza, Foppiano, Ira Berger and Pete Mendelson all getting three hits. Switch-hitter Art O’Neill had a pair of hits as ZP continues to pile up runs. Pitcher Brian Tinney got the win holding down another tough lineup.
Autocraft has been tuning up for their matchup against Singletons next week. This time Autocraft used most of its entire lineup to beat Changing Times Pub 21-10. Mike Ferrietti posted his third straight victory on the mound, keeping CT off the board for most innings. Autocraft's sponsor and secret weapon Bob Huebner hit a homer deep to left, as did veteran power hitter Brian Landy with a line drive over the fence in left. Denny "Ace" Oehl seemed like he was all over the field making plays (mostly). "Big Mike" Mormino had a great night at the plate with four hits. Also having multiple hit nights were Denny Oehl, Bob Cruickshank, Joe "Mr. Steady" Lutz, Chris Piccininni, and Aldo Balducci. Rookie Frank Quatromani almost got a hit. He has a new white bat for sale.
Lockie & Nowachek Family Chiropractors made it two in a row with a win against Paradox Cafe, 29-17. Everybody in the L&N lineup reached base multiple times and scored runs in the victory. Bill Camacho led the offense reaching base safely 5 times with a single, double and three walks. The big blow was a grand slam by Pete Gschweng in the seventh inning putting the game well out of reach. The defense played well turning a couple of double plays led by the sparkling play of shortstop Chris Keep.
Moby Drugs beat McCourt and Trudden Funeral Home 20-7. Moby pounded 30 hits including a triple by Henry Hasemann in the 1st. Joe Carbo followed with a homerun in the 3rd and John Cafarella blasted a homer in the 4th. Pitching and defense were strong holding M&T to only 7 runs.
