Mers #16 going for the 1st base line... M&T up at bat against Bar Boy

Richie from M&T after a base hit... My human's out playing OTHG,
geez, he should get a life...

7:00pm - Barco versus Zwanger Pesiri - 90ft field

Zwanger Pesiri improved its record to 4-4 with a solid 11-2 win over Barco Construction.  Brian Tinney got the win as he kept the Barco lineup in check. Tom “T” Ball led the way for the offense with three hits, including a homer and 5 RBI. Welcome back Tommy Dittmeier! He returned to the lineup with 3 hits and strong play in the outfield. Karl Dessel, Vinny Ciullo, Tyrone Clark, Pete Mendelson and Joe Manning all had two hits. One of Manning’s hits was a blast that he legged into a triple. Ira Berger was like a cat behind the plate, pouncing on a swinging bunt to nail a runner at first. And finally, there is Vinny Ciullo who suffered a self described “brain freeze” when he forgot to run from second base. No problem Vinny, just keep hitting and you will be fine.

8:20pm – Granny O'Shea's versus Hampton Air - 60ft field

The softball year is going quickly as the OTHG schedule has wrapped around and Granny O'Sheas visited Hampton Air for the second time this year in their division. The game started off with both Grannys and Hampton tagging each other for a couple of runs through the first two innings. O'Shea's then stretched the lead in the 3rd with an RBI single by Lenny Balestrieri (5 hits) and a 2 run home run by Walter Hasemann (3 hits). With the score at 6-2, Grannys headed into the top of the fourth and scored 7 more runs via a 2 out rally. Run scoring hits by Bruce Kubart (5 hits), Bob Kirk (4 hits) and Don Carlin (3 hits) were topped off by another 2 run Hasemann homer. Hampton looked to get back into the game with 5 runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth and closed the gap to 13-7. O'Sheas didn't stand still as the whole lineup contributed with six in the 6th thanks to RBI hits by Andy Cohen (5 hits), Jay Donovan (4 hits), Brian Mulcahy and Gary Innes (4 hits). Mike Hadnagy topped it off with a SAC fly. Meanwhile Al Celeste (3 hits) got on base and scored three runs for the night. O'Sheas pushed across 5 more in the 7th and 8th while Bob Meyers pitched HA close allowing only 3 final runs. Grannys got the victory with a great team effort, 24-10. Granny O'Shea's record stands at 6-1-1.

9:40pm - Mers versus Singletons - 60ft field

Friday’s late game between Singleton's and Mers Pub started out mildly and was tied after 5 innings at 4 apiece. That all changed after the 5th inning and ended wildly as both teams scored 12 more runs each on porous infield play and questionable umpire calls throughout the second half. This left both teams deadlocked at 16 -16 for the final score. Gary Sacarro had another 4-4 night at the plate as well as rookie Scottie Gordon. Larry Greishaber also had a good night going 3-5.
