7:00pm - Singletons versus Synergy - 90ft field

Friday's early game on the 90' field between Singleton's and Synergy turned out to be the slugfest most expected.  Singleton's opened with 3 runs, but quickly found themselves down 12-3 after only 2 innings. By the end of the 4th, Singleton's narrowed the lead to 14-8 and knew that time might become a factor because of the long innings. The 6th began with Tom (Satch) Camarda leading off an inning once again with his 3rd consecutive hit, which sparked his team to score 9 runs and gain their first lead of the night 17-14. Over the final 2 innings Big Red outscored The Men in Green by a 12-1 margin and ended up winning 29-16.  Big bats on the night were Gary Sacarro, 4-5 with 5 RBIs and a HR, Larry Greishaber, 4-5 and hit for the cycle, Tom (Satch) Camarda, Paul Canalattos and Jimmy McQuade each with 3 hits and Richie Smindak and Dennis Passerati each with a homerun and 4 RBIs.

8:20pm – Zwanger Pesiri versus J Two Lougne - 60ft field

J-2 Lounge beat Zwanger Pesiri 20-9.  ZP opened the game with five consecutive hits and jumped to a quick 4-0 lead.  ZP added two more in the 2nd to make it 6-0, but could not hold it against a tough J-2 lineup.  On the night, Jerry Mazza had 4 hits, while “T” Ball, Marc Fischer, Bino Reverberi, Tyrone Clark, George Eicher and Pete Mendelson all had two hits each.

9:40pm - Barco vesus McCourt & Trudden - 60ft field

Barco bounced back from last week’s tough loss with a resounding 24-5 win over McCourt & Trudden.  Barco jumped to a quick 4-0 lead in the 1st inning, one they never surrendered, as they continued scoring in each of the next 5 innings.  There were plenty of hitting stars on the night, led by Terry McPartland (4-4, 3 RBIs) and Steve “Baby Steps” Schwind (3-3 4 RBIs).  Also adding to the cause were Gary Jambor, Dave Saur, James Widmer  and Jim Hose (all going 3-4). Barco’s record now stands at 2-3 for the year.

9:40pm - Granny O'Shea's versus Mer's Pub - 90ft field

Granny O'Shea's played a barnburner against Mer's Pub on the 90 foot field. Both teams came out and plated a ton of runs...with Grannys winning 24-21. Grannys jumped to a 5-0 lead in the first two innings, but Mers didn't stand still and marched right back to take an 8-6 lead by the bottom of the fourth.  The fifth inning brought 11 more runs - four for Grannys and seven for Mers on some monster home runs.  The score was 15-10 in favor of Mers.  As Mers kept the pressure on, O'Shea's reached deep in the well and played small ball. While pushing runners around the horn with singles and doubles, O'Shea's scored 10 runs over the next few innings all with 2 outs. By the bottom of the 9th, O'Sheas had opened up a 24 to 20 lead.  Mers had one last shot but could only tag on an additional run as O'Sheas put out the fire with a 24-21 victory.

The whole O'Shea's lineup contributed as each player scored at least once.  In addition, Grannys scored in 8 out of the 9 innings.  Leading the charge was Walter "Double Barrel" Hasemann who continued shooting up the diamond with a 4/4 night, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Al Celeste came through by starting a few of the two out rallies and going 3/3 with an RBI, 3 runs scored and a BB.  Andy Cohen stepped  back into the swing of things after a brief DL with 2 hits, 2 runs and an RBI. After a short vacation last week, the O'Shea's bats are back in town.
