Only 4 games were played this evening.  To see any news on the other two
games, view the "Latest News" from June 27th.

7:00pm - Hampton Air versus Mers Pub - 60ft field

Mers Ale House continued its torrid hitting with thirty one hits in just six innings and cruised to victory over Hampton Air 24-4. Not only have the Mers bats become hot in the second half of the season, having gone 7-1-1 in their last nine games, but the Mers gloves have also returned to top form. A healthy Joe Girimonte has returned to solidify second base and was pivotal in both of Mers double plays while going two for two along with two sacrifice flies that drove in two runs. Jack DeBobis also was remarkable both offensively and defensively going five for five and driving in six runs with three of them coming on a monstrous home run. DeBobis and fellow outfielder, Kevin Brosnan, both made spectacular catches in the outfield taking away big runs from Hampton. In addition, Brosnan's big bat is reawakening and he went two for four. Jim Fileccia continued his hot hitting with a two for three night which drove in four runs, two coming from a long homerun drive over the right centerfield fence. Every Mers batter had a minimum of two hits with George Cohan and John Longo both going three for four. Joe Fanning was three for three with a walk while his pitching kept many of the big Hampton bats off the base paths or under control. Mike Magro continued to set the table extremely well for the big Mers bats going three for five while continuing to use his exceptional speed in his solid right centerfield play. Tom Vella and Byron Bodine, always top notched consistent hitters, were both two for three. Bill Sutherland and Tom Bresca were two for four and both fielded their positions with perfection. Mers record now stands at 8-5-1 with one game remaining before the end of the season tournament.

8:20pm - Synergy versus O'Shea's - 90ft field

Synergy suddenly looked like the team from 2006 in beating the always tough O'Sheas by the score of 25-14. While veteran Richie Dargie struggled a little with walks, he kept O'Sheas bats somewhat quiet and was backed by the best defensive effort Synergy has had this year. Offensively the big blows were from Joe "Mr. Steady" Lutz and Tommy Vanasco with home runs at the time they needed them most. Also with big nights at the plate were Dave Rubino, Bob Cruickshank, Bob Ceriello, and rookie Brian Landi. The fans and teammates were amazed when Bobby Joyce hit a monster gapper to left field for a "half homer" (AKA double). The Synergy team would like to extend condolences to Robert Huebner and his family on the passing of his sister.

9:40pm - Zwanger Pesiri versus McCourt & Trudden - 60ft field

Make it two in row for Zwanger-Pesiri. ZP beat McCourt and Trudden 22-14 behind Brian Tinney’s solid pitching and a host of hitting stars. Ira Berger led the way with 4 hits including a home run. Bino Reverberi also had 4 hits. George Eicher had three hits and also hit one out. Tinney was perfect on the night with three hits, a pair coming with two outs. John Defalco, Pete Mendelson, Rich D’Amico, Tom T-Ball and Tyrone Clark all had multiple hits. It is a good thing Ira had a good night because he would have been fined in Kangaroo Court for some ill advised base-running.
