Over The Hill Gang announces Charity FundraiserFarmingdale’s Over the Hill Gang Softball League is once again sponsoring a fundraiser for a local child in need. On Friday, August 15th, 7:00 PM, at Allen Park, the community is rallying behind “Daniela”. There will be free pizza, cotton candy, popcorn, music and plenty of raffles. The grand prize is a 52 inch HDTV. Everyone is invited. Spend some time with your friends and neighbors while raising money for a fantastic cause. 7:00pm - Synergy versus Zwanger Pesiri - 90ft fieldSynergy bounced back from a tough loss last week to beat Zwanger Pesiri 26-17. As expected, Rich Dargie pitched strong to keep Synergy ahead most of the game. His teammates touched up ZP in two innings with two outs for 6 and 9 runs each. The big blow for Synergy was a grand slam by Bob Huebner deep to left center. Their defense even surprised itself with a 6-4-3 double play, something they have been missing of late. Denny "Ace" Oehl (still playing hurt), Bob Cruickshank, Al (I never saw a pitch I didn't like) Devine, Rookie Brian (I never saw a beer I didn't like), Landi, Joe Lutz (also hurt), Aldo Balducci and Mike Maier had multiple hit nights. 8:20pm - Moby Drugs versus McCourt & Trudden - 60ft fieldMoby Drugs beat McCourt & Trudden 13-7 to lift its league leading record to 10-1. Moby banged out 24 hits with another all around team effort, but it was Andy Sullivan’s hot bat that led the way. Andy went 3 for 4 with a triple and a 3-run homer. Henry Hasemann had another stellar night at shortstop for Moby. 8:20pm - Singletons versus Barco - 90ft fieldFriday's middle game between Singletons and Barco started out with Barco holding a slim 2-1 lead after one inning. Things then got out of hand for them as Singletons scored 19 unanswered runs to take a commanding 20-2 lead going into the bottom of the 7th. Barco managed to push 1 across the plate in their half, but too little too late as Big Red came away with a 22-3 victory. Hot bats on the night were had by Tommy Sorrentino and Dennis Passeratti each going 4-4 with monster home runs and 4 RBIs a piece. Contributing with 3 hits were Benny (Alberto Designs) Alberto, Tom (Satch) Camarda, Scott Gordon, and Alan Rapfogel. 9:40pm - Granny O'Shea's versus J Two Lounge - 90ft fieldGranny O'Shea's met up with J Two Lounge on the large diamond this past weekend closing out the schedule with the late game. O'Shea's had been having some problems scoring some runs the last two games as their bats were taking a mid summer slumber. The alarm went off though as Grannys jumped to a 5-0 lead. Andy "Deke 'em at Third" Cohen (3/4, walk, 4 runs scored) drove in two with a double and Bob Thompson (4/5, 2 RBIs) started off a hot night with an RBI single. J Two stepped right up with 3 in the second to close the gap to 5-3. O'Shea's stretched the lead through the sixth inning with 6 more runs. Gary Innes (3 RBIs and 2 Runs) had an RBI single and Al Celeste hit an RBI double for 2 more runs. Mitch Maghakian (3/5, 3 RBIs) returned from the DL to drive in a pair and close out the sixth. J Two added two in the seventh but Grannys kept the pressure on... Mike Hadnagy helped the cause with 2 singles and 3 RBIs while Bob Kirk (3 runs) delivered an RBI single. Granny O'Sheas ended their 2 game drought with a 21-10 victory over J Two. If you don't see your team in the article, then no
