Granny O'Shea's faithful fans: Kathy, Natalia and Annie

7:00pm - McCourt & Trudden versus J Two Lounge- 90ft field

In a game that featured the new restricted ball, the only highlights and J2 player of note is Chris Tuttle. He belted 2 homers to lead the way as J2 Lounge beat McCourt & Trudden, 10-6.

8:20pm – Synergy versus Hampton Air - 60ft field

Synergy and Hampton Air dueled all night, but Synergy struck big in the 8th inning to take the game 15-8. Richie Dargie overcame many defensive mishaps by pitching a masterful nine innings against the powerful Hampton Air lineup. Offensively, Synergy was led by rookie Brian Landi's homer and triple, both at the time when they needed them the most. Aldo Balducci and Denny "Ace" Oehl were perfect with 5 for 5 nights. Also with big at bats were Joe "Mr. Steady" Lutz, Rich Dargie, Tommy Vanasco, and Bobby Joyce. Special credit goes to Denny Oehl who has been playing hurt, but certainly not showing it.

8:20pm – Barco versus Barboy - 90ft field

Barco’s season long struggles continued as they lost a close one to Bar Boy 12-8. The game started off well for Barco as they jumped out with a 3 run first but Barco’s fielding lapses aided Bar Boy in taking an 8-4 lead after 5.  Barco did bounce back to tie it with 5 in the 6th but again poor fielding opened the door to a 4 run 8th for Bar Boy which Barco was unable to answer.  Barco was led by Gary Jambor, Dennis Ryan and Tony Ranieri with 3 hits apiece and Kevin Moloney, Steve Schwind and Bill White, all with 2 RBIs each.  A special congratulation goes out to Barco’s Dennis Ryan for successfully completing 9 long weeks of radiation therapy.  Stay well Dennis!

9:40pm - Granny O'Shea's versus Singletons - 60ft field

With Memorial Day fireworks going off in the distance, Friday's late game on the 60' field paired up last year's tournament finalists, Singletons and Granny O'Shea's. After 2 innings of good pitching, good defense and maybe a little help from the "new ball", the game was scoreless. The 3rd inning started with Grannys pushing 2 across the plate and Singletons scoring 1 of their own giving O'Shea's a 2-1 lead. Over the next 4 innings Big Red generated 8 unanswered runs, giving them a 9-2 advantage heading into the 8th. Grannys managed to get 2 more runs in the inning, but didn't score in the 9th making the final score 9-4 in favor of Singletons. Hot bats on the night were had by Paul Canalattos going 4-4, Larry Greishaber 3-3 and 4 RBIs and Tom (Satch) Camarda also 3-3. Contributing with 2 hits... Benny Alberto (Alberto Designs), Richie Smindak, Gary Sacarro, and Alan Rapfogel. Also an excellent game was pitched by Frank Gordon, and 2 outstanding defensive plays by Alan Rapfogel in the outfield aided in the victory.

For Grannys the scoring began in the 3rd inning as Bruce Kubart and Mitch Maghakian each knocked in a run. Singletons then went on to get one back in the bottom of the 3rd to make it 2-1 for O'Shea's. In the fourth inning, Singletons strung together some hits and came out with 5 runs for a 6-2 lead. Grannys could not seem to get their powerful lineup going and Singletons scored 3 more in the 7th inning. Heading into the eighth Grannys caught two more runs thanks to Gary Innis and Bob Meyer's RBIs but it was not enough as Singletons went on to win 9-4. Let's hope O'Shea's bats return from vacation next week as they take on Mer's Pub.

9:40pm - Changing Times versus Zwanger Pesiri - 90ft field

Zwanger-Pesiri beat Changing Times 19-7 with a balanced hitting attack up and down the lineup. George Eicher and Marc Fischer supplied the power with homers helping ZP grab an early lead. Fischer had 4 hits on the night while Eicher had 3. Others who joined the hit parade included: Tom “T” Ball, Bino Reverberi, Pete Mendelson and “Shoeless” Karl Dessel who all had 3 hits. Vinny Ciullo also had a pair of singles. Defensively, Dessel overcame some equipment issues to make the plays in the outfield when needed the most.
